FLIGHTS TO BARCELONA
/ BARCELONA GUIDE
Recently there is more and more flights to Barcelona from the UK than
ever before. Probably best flight offers to Barcelona you will get with
low cost airlines considering you book well ahead. On the other hand
non-budget airlines also lowering their fares within EU.
As well as London and the southeast, you can fly to Barcelona from the
midlands, north of England and Scotland, and there are also many
connections from other European cities. Flights from the south of
England are around two hours.
In addition to the major airlines, there are many daily Barcelona
flights from the UK's budget airlines, although you need to book early
to get the best deals.
EasyJet alone flies to Barcelona from Luton, Stansted, Gatwick,
Newcastle, Liverpool, Bristol and East Midlands, BMI Baby flies from
Manchester and Air Scotland has recently made Barcelona accessible to
the Scots, flying directly from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Also
try FlyGlobeSapn.com for flights between Edinburgh and Glasgow to
Barcelona.
In addition to Barcelona, RyanAir has daily services to Girona-Costa
Brava airport, which is 60 miles north of Barcelona, although it
inaccurately advertises them as being to Barcelona-Girona airport.
From Girona-Costa Brava airport RyanAir runs a bus service for its
passengers to Girona city centre and to Barcelona, with a journey time
of approximately 90 minutes.
Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto is the closest hotel to Barcelona airport and
located conveniently close to the motorway. The other option is Tryp
Aeropuerto. Both are modern four star hotels and cater well for business
travellers.
Once a flight has landed at the modern El Prat de Llobregat airport and
passengers have disembarked, Barcelona-Sants station is within 20
minutes by train.
Note: the train service between the airport and Sants station will not
be running from December 2005 due to works for the high speed train from
Madrid.
The trains run every half hour between 06:10 and 22:40, and for late
arrivals there is the airport bus to Plaça Catalunya, in the centre of
Barcelona. Taxis are reasonably priced, although an airport surcharge is
added to the bill.
Another option to consider is to buy a flight and hotel package.
